David Groves
Communications Director 

David works to ensure that the Washington State Labor Council's events and positions are well-publicized, both in the news media and within the labor movement.  He supports and encourages local union publications and communications efforts by providing training, assistance and materials to labor union editors around the state.  He is responsible for writing, editing and designing all publications, brochures and mailings, including WSLC Reports, the Legislative Position Papers, the WSLC Legislative Report and the weekly (during session) Legislative Updates.  He is also the designer and webmaster of this site.

He joined the council in 1992 after working for five years as a newspaper copy/layout editor at the Carroll County (Md.) Times and the (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot.  He earned a B.S. in journalism from the University of Maryland. He and his wife, Dru, have three children, sons Jackson (12) and Adrian (10), and daughter Julia (8).
