2004 Senate Vote Descriptions

  1. SB 6239 (Poulsen am.) -- Outsourcing amendment to Senate R&D tax break bill; break would be calculated based on percentage of U.S. employment. "Right" vote was YES. Failed 23-26 on Jan. 28.

  2. SHB 2546 (final passage) -- House version of R&D tax break bill with insufficient language on disclosure and accountability for job creation among recipient businesses. "Right" vote was NO. Passed 40-9 on Feb. 10.

  3. SSB 5697 (final passage) - Essentially freezing the state minimum wage by linking future inflationary increases to the unemployment rate, falsely implying they are related. "Right" vote was NO. Passed 27-22 on Feb. 10.

  4. 2SSB 5378 (final passage) - Across-the-board benefit cuts in workers’ compensation through 4-quarter averaging similar to the 2003 cuts in unemployment insurance. "Right" vote was NO. Passed 25-23 on Feb. 11.

  5. SSB 6395 (final passage) - Requiring employer reporting to begin workers’ comp claims process, rather than giving injured workers the option of reporting to medical providers. "Right" vote was NO. Passed 30-19 on Feb. 11.

  6. ESB 6180 (final passage) - Prohibiting genetic testing as a condition of employment. "Right" vote was YES. Passed 49-0 on Feb. 12.

  7. 2SSB 6599 (final passage) - Questioning validity of testing farm workers exposed to toxic pesticides as required by the court. "Right" vote was NO. Passed 30-19 on Feb. 17.

  8. ESB 6317 (final passage) - Deregulating self-insured companies by allowing them to make their own claims decisions and manage claims. "Right" vote was NO. Passed 29-20 on Feb. 17.

  9. SSB 6187 (Fraser am.) - Amend. to supplemental budget reducing state employee health care costs. "Right" vote was YES. Needed 60% majority, failed 26-23 on Feb. 25.

  10. 2SHB 2295 (final passage) - Authorizing charter schools. "Right" vote was NO. Passed 27-22 on Mar. 10.

  11. EHB 1777 (final passage) - Implementing home-care workers' contract. "Right" vote was YES. Passed 47-0 on Mar. 10.
