2006 Senate Vote Descriptions

  1. ESHB 2661 (prime sponsor: Murray) -- Civil rights/Nondiscrimination bill making it illegal to hire or refuse to hire someone based on their sexual orientation. "Right" vote: YES. (Passed 25-23, Jan. 27)

  2. SSB 6185 (Keiser) -- Codifying the Family and Medical Leave Act into state statute. "Right" vote: YES. (Passed 37-12, Feb. 8)

  3. SSB 6480 (Kohl-Welles) -- Apprenticeship utilization standards for DOT (Department of Transportation) public works projects. "Right" vote: YES. (Passed 30-11, Feb. 11)

  4. ESSB 6885 (Kohl-Welles) -- Unemployment Insurance reform permanently restoring two-quarter averaging in the calculation of benefits. "Right" vote: YES. (Passed 25-22, Feb. 13)

  5. E2SHB 2353 (Pettigrew) -- Giving child care providers the right to collectively bargain with the state over subsidies and other issues. "Right" vote: YES. (Passed 40-8, Feb. 28)

  6. SHB 3185 (McCoy) -- Creates an administrative remedy for collecting back wages. "Right" vote: YES. (Passed 46-0, Mar. 1)

  7. SHB 2780 (McDermott) -- Allowing state employees to make PAC payroll deductions just like private sector and county/city workers can. "Right" vote: YES. (Passed 37-9, March 1)
