2007 Senate Vote Descriptions

  1. 2SSB 5093 (final passage) -- Providing health insurance for children in families at or below 250% of the federal poverty level. Effective January 2009, eligibility is expanded to 300% subject to appropriation. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 38-9, Feb. 14)

  2. ESB 5675 (final passage) -- Increasing minimum benefits paid to injured workers to the same standard used in the Unemployment Insurance system, 15% of the state’s average monthly wage but no greater than 100% of wages at injury. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 37-8, Mar. 10)

  3. SSB 5676 (final passage) -- Stops employers from forcing workers to take sick leave when they are “kept on salary” for purposes of workers’ compensation. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 31-15, Mar. 10)

  4. ESSB 5373 (final passage) -- Reducing unemployment insurance fraud and socialized costs, and closing the “Professional Employee Organizations loophole” by requiring their clients to maintain their own experience ratings. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 36-11, Mar. 12)

  5. E2SSB 5659 (final passage) -- Establishing Family and Medical Leave Insurance. This vote was for the original Senate bill that included coverage for family members’ health emergencies and the funding source.) “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 32-17, Mar. 12)

  6. SHB 1244 (final passage) -- The workers’ compensation “hour bank” bill, restoring the value of health benefits when calculating workers’ comp benefits. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 47-0, Apr. 4)

  7. ESHB 2111 (final passage) -- Collective bargaining rights for adult family home providers. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 32-17, Apr. 10)

  8. HB 2079 (final passage) -- Clarifying agency-fee rules so these fees are not considered used for political purposes when sufficient funds are in the union’s general treasury to cover the expenditure. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 29-20, Apr. 13)

  9. SHB 1128 (final passage) -- Operating budget for 2007-09. “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 31-17, Apr. 22)

  10. E2SSB 5659 (final passage)-- Family Leave Insurance (as amended by House.) “Right” vote: YES. (Passed 26-21, Apr. 22)
