Workforce Development Director
As Workforce Development Director, Rachel McAloon is part of the WSLC’s Olympia-based workforce development team that advocates for Washington’s working families from initial entry into the workforce, to career transitions, and when facing job loss. She works closely with fellow Workforce Development Directors Kairie Pierce, Bill Messenger and Emmanuel Flores and Workforce Development Coordinator Karen White.
Before joining the WSLC staff in November 2019, Rachel worked for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) as an Apprenticeship Consultant for Southwest Washington. In that role, she conducted employer outreach to expand registered apprenticeships in Washington state. McAloon has been with L&I since 2013, previously managing and underwriting employers’ industrial insurance accounts.
A native Nebraskan, Rachel studied Business Analytics and Strategic Communication at The College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Neb., her hometown. She was actively involved in Washington State’s Combined Fund Drive, and won Local Coordinator of the Year in 2015 for her volunteer work with L&I.
